Three years have slowly slipped by,
Three years it’s taken to have a good cry,
To mourn the loss of a friend so dear,
To tell my heart you’re no longer here.
Sally, I miss you – we’ve shared so much,
Sally, I need you, your comfort, your touch.
I’ve just been pretending you really weren’t gone,
And I’d see you next August on a BYU lawn.
That we’d sit and listen of each other's lives
Talk about being mothers, grandmas, and wives.
Sally, I’ve known you for most of my years,
I’m grateful for the memories though now they bring tears.
I’m grateful to have been close to a woman of God.
Who has set an example of holding on to the “rod”.
I pray for your loved ones you’ve left here behind,
I pray in their mourning a comfort they’ll find.
And an absolute assurance that you’re not far away,
That you know of the struggles they have day to day.
Sally, please ask Father if you may return,
When their life “lessons” are hard to learn.
Help them know when you’re near and feel of your love,
It’ll help them grow close to their Savior and Father above.
I know you’re happy in heaven; you’ve a work to do,
I just wanted to tell you I sincerely miss you.
