Sally Meservy

As I flip back through my file of memories of Sally I see a smiling face, and enthusiastic worker, a warm friend and a quiet spiritually dedicated person.

So many happy memories pass through my mind, most of them through our work together in Young Women's. Wilderness camps, sitting around the campfire with her playing her guitar, pajama fashion shows, and her sitting there letting the girls tie her hair up in little pig tails all over her head are all special memories. Youth conferences of different types and trips to her family cabin with the youth and just as leaders were always special because she made them that way.

I remember several parties at her home. What a warm gracious hostess she was. A warm welcome feeling greeted you as you entered her home.

I think the thing that stands out most in my mind is her interaction with the youth she worked with. She had a way of reaching all of them. She found their strengths and brought them out, ignoring their weaknesses. She always had a listening ear to who ever needed it. Sally wasn't hurried in her interactions with others. She had time for them. Never did she become involved in criticism of others. I remember thinking of "Thumper the rabbit" in the movie Bambi, when he said, "If you can't say nothing nice, don't say nothing at all." This seemed to be the way Sally was.

Yes, many memories fill my mind as I write this. I feel it a blessing in my life to have known her and worked with her. I am a better person for it.

With love,
Jan Christensen
