SALLY OXBORROW MESERVY -- Life and Times

Tribute to My Daughter-in-law Sally Meservy

by Arlene Meservy

She was of a cheerful disposition, never showing that she was frustrated or at her wits end when there were deadlines to meet, problems to overcome, places to be at a given time or just waiting on her husband. That always amazed me.

She loved her family and her husband. In marriage two people come together from different backgrounds and life styles which may present problems in interrelationships. She seemed always to be patient with her husband and ever anxious for his success. Their separate strengths seemed to compliment each other to the benefit of their family.

She was very practical and was exceptional at spotting bargains and using them to benefit her and the family. Though she often shopped the sales for her own clothing she had good taste and always looked well dressed , modest and beautiful.

Her musical talent and willingness to share it blessed our family on all our special occasions together. She had ideas and knew how to include others in presenting numbers for these occasions. She was free with using her talents to bless others.

Her children thrived on her love and encouragement. She was willing to do all she could to help them be involved in different learning experiences whether music, art, crafts, etc.

She loved the Lord and His work - always seeking to serve Him in whatever way called upon. Part of serving the Lord was serving her fellowmen. That was a most important part of her life.

She had an eye for bringing beauty into her home. Though she never was flushed with an unlimited bankroll she could see how to make a table, a corner, a wall, a floor, a deck, the yard more beautiful. She seemed to know how to combine the antique (which she liked) with the modern for a most pleasant effect.

In whatever category you choose to measure she was a good HOMEMAKER. That doesn't mean she always had the cleanest house, the nicest furniture, the best dishes - she knew how to take what she had and make it into a HOME where love dwelt and people were important.

We do love her so very much.
